Patient has history of CHF (1 point)
Patient has history of cerebrovascular disease (1 point)
Paient has diabetes and uses insulin (1 point)
Chronic renal insufficiency is present with Cr > 2 mg% (1 point)
Results: Total Criteria Point Count:
Approximate Risk of Cardiac Complication
0-1 points:up to 7 %
2 points:3.8%
3-5 points:11.5%
In this study, the patients with 2 risk factors had a paradoxical decrease in cardiac complication rate.
