As of November 2000, the U.S. FDA is taking steps to remove Phenylpropanolamine (PPA) from all drug products and has requested that drug companies discontinue marketing products containing PPA due to a public health advisory concerning the risk of hemorrhagic stroke, or bleeding into the brain, associated with PPA.
